Superintendent's Message

Welcome to ISE

We are pleased you are looking at the ISE website.  We hope that it gives you information that will be helpful to you as you learn more about our school.  Please do not hesitate to contact any of us at ISE.

The ISE International School was founded in 1994 to serve the growing number of professional families living and working on the Eastern Seaboard.  Our school is a family school.  By this we mean that we don’t want to be the biggest school in the region, but a school where each child is well known by her/his teachers, the support staff and the administration. We also invite parents to be well connected to the school.  We feel strongly that the parent-student-school triangle is very important to each child’s well-being and academic development.   We invite parents to be part of the Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) and to participate in as many of our school activities as possible. We hold an open parent meeting every second month so parents can come together to visit with each other and learn more about the school’s programs and activities.

ISE offers an American based curriculum for students from age three through high school graduation.  We follow the American system as we feel this curriculum can be more easily adjusted to meet each student’s educational needs than a mandated national curriculum.  This philosophy allows us to challenge each child where he/she is strong and to support the child in areas where he/she needs additional work.  We also offer a very strong after school activities program that presents activities in the areas of sport, music and culture among other areas.

In grades 11 and 12 we are pleased to present the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP).  As one hundred percent of our graduates attend university, we believe that the IBDP will best prepare them for their enrollment in university.  Students who are successful in this program are hardworking and responsible.  As the IBDP is a challenging program where not all students are successful, we take pride in also offering the American High School Diploma.  This diploma qualifies students to attend university in North America, Thailand and in a great many other countries.  ISE is the only school on the Eastern Seaboard offering this diploma.

Our school is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) from the United States.  This means that our students are qualified for university entrance and that the work completed at ISE can be transferred to another international school or a school in one’s home country without question.  We are also fully accredited by the Thai Ministry of Education.  The ISE diploma is accepted by all Thai universities.  Our students can enroll in either English language or Thai language tertiary programs.

Please look through our website and then contact us with any questions or comments you may have.  We urge you to visit our school.  We are safely established within the Burapha Golf Club and Resort.  It is an excellent location to attend our school.

Sincerely,

Dr. Robert W. Brewitt
Superintendent

New Fine Arts Center Ground Breaking Ceremony

We had the groundbreaking ceremony for the Fine Arts Center this morning. The auspicious moment to drive the first pile was 9:09.09 and we made the first hit on the pile at that time.

Khun Charlie introduced the people who had worked on the design and the team from the construction company. The architectural design was created by Lifeimage Co. Ltd and the construction contract was granted to Chuemmaitree Construction Company Ltd.

The Center will contain a state-of-the-art theater with 306 seats, a large music classroom, music practice/rehearsal rooms, dance studio, drama green rooms, an art studio, and costume storage areas. Additionally, we will have an Art Exhibition area, a large conference/ multipurpose room and a tea garden and cafe area.

Mr. Saksit Potisit spoke representing the Thai Ministry of Culture and the local authorities in Pattaya and Chonburi.

We also heard from Ms. Colleen Cuevas, representing the PTA, Ms. Sheilah Murthy, speaking for the fine arts teachers and Viking spoke as student council president. Members of the newspaper and television press from the Pattaya area also attended and interviewed members of our school family.

We will send the link with the video of the ceremony to you early next week.

It is anticipate that the project will be ready for use in December 2013. ISE will be hosting the Mekong River International School Association (MRISA) cultural exchange event in January 2014. This art, music, drama and dance exhibition brings together 100 students from 8 international schools from Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand.
